The Dons played their last game of the season Friday night against the Miramonte Matadors. While the Dons couldn’t pull off a W for their last game, they traded off lots of possession time with the Mats and had some great plays on both sides of the field.
The boys knew they had their work cut out for them this season after losing 18 seniors last year and starting with a new coaching staff. Despite the rebuilding year, they fought some tough battles, had a lot of close games, improved a ton and demonstrated exceptional Dons’ sportsmanship. Thanks to our young and talented coaches Welcomer, Wickline and Watson (a hat trick of Ws!) and returning coach Hedrick for their leadership and dedication to this Dons team. They taught the boys a ton and set a great standard for hard work and great attitudes. And kudos to the mentoring and leadership of co-captions Marshall Anderson and Collin Malmquest who did a great job inspiring the team all season. The boys have a lot to be proud of. And what a better symbol of the team’s promising future than the 2 goals of the night coming from the 2 freshmen, Caleb Mason followed by Grant Condy. It was fun watching you all season. We can’t wait to see you take the field again next spring. Go Dons!
