What a beautiful day it was at the Las Lomas pool as the Dons faced off with the Knights. Again, our team was just finishing their “Hell Week”, so not many time improvements – the swimmers are tired! They are starting to taper now, in preparation for the DAL Championships late next week.
Avery Tanimura won the JV girls 200 Free, and Sadie Suppiger won the Varsity race, with an NCS Automatic time of 1:58.65! Parker Etnyre also won for the boys.
Taryn Veronda won the 200IM for the Varsity Girls, and Caroline Tumilty added another JV 50 Free win to her list of victories! Liv Hoppe, Anna Motes, Sophie Hendrickson and Adelyn Horciza went 2nd through 5th in the Varsity 50 Free. Hans Ramirez, in just his second meet back from injury finished 2nd in the Boys Varsity 50 Free with a 22.96!
Mila Ellis and Will Miller won the 50 fly races for the JV teams, and Kendall Lee won the 100 Fly for the Varsity girls. Sadie Suppiger won the 100 free and Parker Etnyre won the boys 100 Free race.
Avery Tanimura won the 500 Free race for the JV girls, and Anna Motes won the 100 Breast for the Varsity girls.
Relays are still swimming CONS times pretty consistently as well!
We currently have two swimmers that have NCS Automatic (top 16 time from last year) times – Sadie Suppiger in 200 Free and Parker Etnyre in 200 Free. Sadie also holds NCS Consideration (top 40 time from last year) times in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Fly, 100 Back and 200 IM. Parker also holds NCS Consideration times in 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back and 200IM. We have seven other swimmers so far that have earned NCS Consideration times: Ella Del Rosario in 100 Free and 200 Free, Taryn Veronda in 100 Back, 100 fly and 200 IM, Brooklyn Plomp in 100 Back, Kendall Lee in 100 Back, Anna Motes in 100 Breast and 200 IM, Audrey Martin in 100 Breast, and Cale Hanson in 200 Free and 500 Free. We have several swimmers that are mere hundredths of a second away from a CONS or AUTO time and I expect to add more swimmers to this list after DAL Champs!
The big DAL meet is coming up next week at Campo with Prelims on Thursday 4/25 after school, and Finals on Saturday morning, 4/27. The DAL JV Invitational will take place after the Varsity finals on Saturday afternoon. This is the big meet where we expect a lot of time improvements in our tapered, maybe even shaved-down swimmers! Tech suits will come out, and the times will fall! GO DONS!
