Rainbows, raindrops and rays of sunshine set the backdrop for the first dual meet of the season, a tremendous success, the boys winning 88-48 and the girls winning 63-41 with fantastic performances across the board despite less than ideal conditions. See Athletic.net for full meet results.
Outstanding performances for the day included:
Boys—
Trevor Rogers (Sr): Winning the Long Jump in a personal best, school record, 1st in North Coast and 2nd in the state 23’5″, winning the high jump at 5’10” (and nearly making 6’6″), running a strong leg in the winning 4×100 relay and placing 2nd in the 100 meters at 11.08, putting Trevor on the 100 meter record board at spot #8. Another big day for Trevor.
Paul Kuhner (SR): Winning the 100 meters in 10.93, the 200 in 22.25 and running a strong anchor in the 4×100 relay team in 43.25 good for 3rd in North Coast. Paul maintains the #2 spot in the state in the 100 meters.
Harry Zimmerman (So): Winning the 1600 in a PR 4:50.55 and 3200 meters in 10:37.78
River Lockwood (So): Winning the 100 in a PR 17.62 and 300 meter hurdles in 45.62
Ace Reeder (So): Winning the triple jump in 38’6″ and 3rd in the long jump at 20’2″
Ilias Kaplanes Jones (So): 2nd in the long jump with a PR and tied 3rd in North Coast at 21’4″, just a couple short inches from ACA top 10 mark, 3rd in the 200 meters at 24.53 and running a strong leg in the winning 4 x 100 relay.
Girls—
Natalie Lyons (SR): Winning the 100 meters in 13.26 and Long Jump in a personal best 17’11.5″, a 1st in North Coast and 12th in the State mark
Haley Chelemedos (Jr): In an uncommon double victory, winning the shot put in a career first event at 27’5″ and the high jump at 5’0″, tied 3rd in North Coast, and placing 2nd in the 200 meters in 27.95
Shanice Williams (fr): In an incredible and gutsy “#doitfortheteamperformance” winning the 100 and 300 meter hurdles
Distance Team: Nevis Murphy (So) wins the 800 meters (2:21), Olivia Williams (Sr) 1600 meters (5:13) and Anju Sekhon (Fr) the 3200 meters (12:26), and Megan Yee (Sr) 2nd in the 800 meters (2:23) with both 800 meter times closing in on top 10 in ACA history and both top 10s in North Coast.
