The JV Softball Dons easily dispatched the Concord Bears last Friday with a 15-4 win. Pitcher Margaux Stone threw her first career no hitter in front of a solid defense and while the offense had a lot of hits to propel the JV team to their first victory of the season.
The Dons got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jill Pierce led off with a walk, Amelia Riley doubled, Stone walked, and Yuna Aoki walked all scoring one run to get a 4-0 lead after the first inning.
The Dons added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Riley walked, Stone singled, Reina Dekel singled, Aoki walked again and Sara Tarnai walked, each scoring one run. The score after 2 innings was 9-2.
Stone earned the win for the Dons with a No-Hitter. She surrendered zero hits! and four runs over five innings while striking out 8 batters. The defense was anchored by Riley behind the plate, while Olivia DeBoy played 1B, Leia Pham at 2B, Pierce at SS, Dekel at 3B, with Everest Tomasello, Tarnai and Aoki in the OF.
Dekel went 3-4 at the plate to lead the Dons, while Pierce and Pham each collected multiple hits in the blowout win. The JV Dons had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 14 walks for the game and ran wild on the base paths, accumulating nine stolen bases for the game.
The JV Softball Dons travel this Thursday at Las Lomas, first pitch is at 4:30.
