So close.
With 25 seconds left in the game, the Dons led Dublin by the score of 69-67. But with seven seconds remaining, Dublin broke the hearts of the host team, hitting a three pointer to win the game 70-69. The Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team would settle for second place in the John Rhodes Tournament.
Coach Thomas played his starters throughout the game. He was rewarded once again by Josh Elerts putting on a superstar performance. The energetic center has his first double-double of the season, 17 points and 15 rebounds. For his performance throughout the tournament, Josh Elerts was selected to the All-Tournament team.
Lorenzo Cangini once again did a great deal of scoring for the Dons. Lorenzo poured in 17 points, 9 of these points being three-point shots. The team also saw breakout performances by Arman Craig and freshman, AJ Hastings. Arman scored 10 points and five rebounds while AJ contributed 14 points and three steals.
The family of John Rhodes was on hand for the final game. They witnessed the JV team honor the memory of John Rhodes through its passion and hard work. This Dons team serviced notice to the league that it has the talent to compete every night and will be a force in the upcoming season.
The Junior Varsity team will continue their basketball journey with the Hornet JV Tournament. This tournament is scheduled from December 7-9, 2023, in Alameda. We hope you join us to support the young Dons!
