The Acalanes campus was electric on Wednesday afternoon with volleyball, flag football, and water polo games happening simultaneously! The Las Lomas Knights showed up confident and ready to battle and even gained the first possession of the game. However, they were unable to score due to the powerful Lady Dons defense. Once the Dons gained possession, sophomore Ella Del Rosario sprinted down the pool and received a great pass from senior Wendy Heffelfinger which became the first goal of the game. A minute later, senior Brooklyn Plomp was able to add a goal of her own after a great steal by Ella. The Knights continued to persist and after two Lady Dons were kicked out, they ended up on the scoreboard just as the first quarter ended with ACA leading 2-1. The Lady Dons were on fire in the second quarter with back-to-back goals from Junior Levand Koopah and another from Brooklyn. Las Lomas didn’t back down and added another goal to their tally. The Dons kept their momentum going as Levand sent a beautiful pass to Wendy who scored the last goal of the half with the Dons leading 5-2. Acalanes wasn’t finished yet. Brooklyn scored the first goal of the third quarter in less than a minute with sophomore Addison Dankworth adding another shortly thereafter. Las Lomas continued to battle and earned a penalty shot bringing the score to 6-2. Ella fired right back and scored a hat trick in less than two minutes! The Knights were able to score once more before the third quarter ended with the Dons leading 10-4. Freshman Finley Graff started the fourth quarter off with a hard-fought goal from set but the Knights returned with a goal of their own. The remainder of the game was all defense and hats off to the amazing saves from freshman goalie Adelyn Horciza, including a 5-meter penalty shot! The Lady Dons took the 11-5 victory against the Las Lomas Knights.
