Acalanes Softball put up nine runs in the second on its way to a 12-1 victory over Concord High School on Thursday in their last regular season game of the season. The victory secured a second place finish in league standings with a 12-8 record (5-3 in league play). Esa Orman, Emmi Cronin, Avery Robb, Lauren Foster, and Emme Young all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the big inning.
The Dons got things started in the first inning when Hailey Stripling hit a towering solo homer over the centerfield fence to take a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Lulu Levy had a clutch 2 out single to score Tess Gundacker for a 2-0 run lead heading to the bottom of the first inning.
Maya Shoenhair led things off in the circle for the Dons. She allowed only one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out five. Lana Cerejo finished off the game for the Dons and secured the win to wrap up the regular season.
All told the Dons collected 12 hits on the day. Stripling, Gundacker, and Foster all had multiple hits while Stripling went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Dons.
The team now heads into the NCS playoffs. Round 1 game is at Home at Acalanes Softball field on Tuesday at 5:00 against Encinal High School. Come out and support your Dons in their final home game of the season. Tickets must be purchased on Go Fan.
