The Acalanes Dons Varsity Softball team had everything working on Wednesday, winning big over Berean Christian Varsity Eagles 13-1 to bounce back from a tough game on Tuesday and get on the winning track with a big league game win.
The bats came alive for the Dons as they racked up 11 hits on the day. Hailey Stripling and Emme Young each collected three hits to lead the Dons. Acalanes scored 5 runs in the first inning, highlighted by a double from Lulu Levy that drove in 2 runs.
Then in the second inning, the Dons scored 4 more runs on a 2 out rally led by Esa Orman who crushed a triple to right field, and then was followed by RBI singles from Maya Shoenhair and Sophia Alvarado.
Shoenhair was the starting Pitcher for Acalanes and cruised through the first four innings, allowing three hits and one unearned run while striking out four and walking zero. Lana Cerejo then finished up the last two innings needing only 17 pitches to get the final 6 outs and not allowing a baserunner. Combined they were able to get the final 9 outs in a row to close out the game.
Defensively, the Dons played well as 2B Emmi Cronin made several great plays and Avery Robb took care of the hot corner while also collecting 2 RBIs on the day. Lauren Foster played RF hustling throughout the entire game and Sophie Sinha came in to finish the game at 3B for the Dons.
Another highlight at the plate came in the 4th inning when Nicole Parlett had a fantastic at bat lining a ball right up the middle off the pitcher and then sprinting down the line towards first and running right through the first baseman.
