Tuesday night was all about the Dons’ spectacular seniors: Ava McGlothlin, Cate Condy, Gabriela Benveniste, Georgia Howells, Haley Rurka, Hanna Hageboeck, Lucy Gellman and Maya Wang. The pre-game festivities were full of love and support for our “Great Eight.”
The positive vibes continued on the field with a starting lineup that featured all eight seniors. The Dons scored five goals fairly early, and never relinquished the lead during the game. The Falcons didn’t roll over though and showed their tenacity taking advantage of and forcing turnovers and fighting for loose balls, keeping the score closer than the Dons expected. The Dons ultimately prevailed with a score of 15-7 over the Falcons.
Scoring for the Dons were Grace Imrie, Megan Churchill, Hanna Hageboeck, Haley Rurka and Maya Wang. Assisting the scorers were Churchill, Rurka, Wang and Lucy Gellman. Helping with possession in controlling the draw and loose balls were Imrie, Rurka, Wang, Hageboeck, Avery Ives and Ella Thomason. The brightest spot on the field for the Dons was goalie Addie Martin who made 16 saves on 23 shots.
The Dons have a big game on Friday night at Miramonte at 7pm. Let’s all make the quick trek to Orinda to pack the stands and show up for our girls!
