It was a Dons vs Dons matchup on Tuesday night with Girls Varsity Lacrosse taking on a tough, talented Amador Valley squad. In the end, Acalanes lost 10-16, but came away with excellent experience, lessons learned and comfort knowing that they played well against a top-notch opponent. Junior Grace Imrie led the offense with 4 goals and senior Maya Wang scored 3. Senior Haley Rurka netted 2 goals and assisted on 2 others. Sophomore Megan Churchill rounded out the scoring with 1 goal and 3 assists.
On the defensive side of the ball, junior goalie Addie Martin had 10 saves, a few that were acrobatically spectacular, on 23 shots. Junior defender Kelly Todhunter had the tough task of matching up against Amador’s leading scorer; Todhunter managed to keep her contained, holding her to 50% of what she had scored in their previous game.
The (Acalanes) Dons look to keep the strong play going in their first league game and first home game of the season on Friday at 7pm against the Las Lomas Knights. Bundle up and come out to support Girls Varsity Lacrosse on Friday!
