Frosh Dons Bring Home a Win over Monte Vista, 9 to 5

The Freshman Dons took a road trip to Danville and came home with a win.   Acalanes played Monte Vista and carrying the victory from the first inning to the end. In the first inning, Tommy Terhar got the party started with a single and add in his quick smart base-running, he found himself on third base. Cody Michlitsch grounded out with scoring Terhar. Dons got on the board and never looked back.

Branson Smith was on the pitcher’s mound for the Dons. The righthander lasted three innings. In the first inning, Smith struck out three batters. He collected five strikeouts allowing only one hit. Michlitsch and Terhar also pitched for the Dons collecting four more strikeouts to end the game.

Terhar went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Dons in hits.  Kyle Woodson laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the Dons around on the bases, which helped putting runs on the board.  Top of fourth, Riley Gates hit a big bomb to center field, followed by a few walks, a hit by pitch with a few RBIs, the Mustangs knew they were in trouble. The Dons put up four runs in the fourth inning.  Other batters contributing to the big inning included Smith, Gavin Beers, Nico Roig, and Woodson, all sending runners across the plate in this inning. All in all, this team played together, battled together and won together!

Game ended with Dons 9 and Mustangs 5. It was a good day in Donville, I mean Danville.  Upcoming games: Bishop O’Dowd doubleheader on Saturday and next week at Vacaville and Livermore at home.
