Acalanes JV Baseball loses to Vallejo Bulldogs 6-4 following “Rocky” Defensive Performance

Wow what a week it has been since the Dons lost the heartbreaker against the Foothill Falcons.  Silicon Valley Bank collapsed, scandal-plagued congressman George Santos filed paperwork for re-election, a big blob of algae hit the Florida coast, and surprisingly it rained here at home.  As if all that wasn’t bad enough, Jimmy G got traded, much to the chagrin of my female readers.  Less well known but also noteworthy, I celebrated Pi Day by eating a chicken sandwich instead of pizza, and I finished folding my laundry just ahead of my 24 days, 22 hours, 45 minutes, and 15 second average.  One other event that took place was the Academy Awards.  Clocking in at 3 hours and 40 minutes, some though the telecast was a slap-less snoozefest, whereas I saw it as perfect theme material for this article.

The Dons defense, which looked like it was “Everything Everywhere All at Once” at times, struggled with 5 errors in the game.  The pitchers gave up 6 runs, none earned.  Jake Colaco got the start on the mound, giving up 5 run on 5 hits and 1 walk in 4 innings.  Brady Wall pitched the last 2 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks.

Brady Wall not afraid of the “Spotlight”

The Dons offense struggled against the starting pitcher for Vallejo, who went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits.  The final score looked more respectable after a seldom used relief pitcher came in for the last inning and gave up 3 runs on 4 walks.  Ben Pecci, Dominic Patitucci, and Brady Wall registered the only Dons hits.

The team continues their “Nomadland” road-trip with a game today, Thursday March 16, against Liberty High School in Brentwood. Let’s hope there is no “Rain Man”.
