In the second game of the NCS Open the Lady Dons defeated Heritage by a score of 77 to 38. Heritage finished the regular season 22-4 and was led by 6-4 UCLA commit and McDonalds All American Amanda Muse. The Lady Dons wasted no time in setting the tone with aggressive full court pressure. One could see from the start the girls pressure and speed might be too much for the visitors from Brentwood. At the end of the first quarter it was 19-9 Dons. The lead extended to 39 to 18 at the half with KK Lacanlale leading the way with 12 first half points. Also of note was an excellent defensive effort by both Janna Steele and Nikki McCarthy on Muse in key first half minutes.
The girls completely broke the game open in the 3rd quarter, as the relentless defensive pressure and a 3-point barrage pushed the lead to 40 points. The final ended up 77 to 38 Dons in one of the more dominating performances of the season. KK Lacanlale had 15 points coupled with an incredible 8 steals. Ariana Hallstrom also scored 15 points, Sophie Chinn added 13, Dulci Vail scored 12, Natalie Frechman tallied 10 points and Cameron Thornton had 8 points.
The Girls now move on to NorCals/State where they are expected to be placed in D1 with the first game Tuesday. The seedings will come out later today.
