They dealt with cold, wind, hail and rain and that was all before going out and beating Berkeley High School 18-0. The team played great once again with the assists, ground balls and scoring spread out amongst numerous players. Scoring was led by Emily Roberts once again as she scored five goals (also two loose balls controlled) and was helped by Campbell Evans with two goals (1 assist) and Taylor Mikalis with two goals. Taylor filled the stat sheet with an assist and four loose balls controlled for the Dons. Claire Zimmerman also had four loose balls controlled, a goal and two assists. Reese Imrie scored a goal on one shot, two ground balls and completely dominated the draw. Charlotte Gellman had one goal, two assists and three loose balls controlled.
Others scoring and providing assists were Emme Cain, Laila Vivek, Audrey Peatross, Nina Von Shafer, Kate Uffelman, and Molly Schofield. Mattie Rumberg, a defensive player, took the ball from her position all the way in to score. Many players did a great job gathering loose balls and moving the ball around on offense including Maddy Beeman, Annie Baker, Lucy Thomas and Gianna Biordi.
The defense, led by Goalies Sarah Hession and Addison Mandell, played lights out and together made sure that Berkeley was not going to score. Defenders Hannah Burkes, Jasmine Frost, Emme Martin, Reiney Fish, Sadie Logan and of course Mattie Rumberg.
All 31 players on the travel squad played significant minutes with new players Maya Stafford, Reese Westphal and Grace Chehlaoui significantly contributing to the Dons’ win with their hustle and defense!
