The JV Lady Dons completely dominated their first game of the year against Granada High School 18-1 at Granada. The Dons raced out to a 9-0 lead in the first 11 minutes and never looked back. On this cold and windy evening the Dons controlled the ball in their end for about 47 minutes out of the 50 minute game. Many players scored for this balanced and talented team, led by Emily Robert with five goals and Campbell Evans with two. Other players that scored included Annie Baker, Lucca Debiasse (who also had three loose balls controlled), Taylor Mikalis, Chole Bergman, Taylor Daggs, Charlotte Gelman (who also had three loose balls controlled and two assists), Reese Imrie (who also had three loose balls controlled), Jasmine Frost, Christina Hageboeck and Grace Chehlaoui. Audrey Peatross dominated on ground balls getting five loose balls controlled and Claire Zimmerman had four. Several players were involved in getting numerous assists and they were spread out amongst 10 different players.
The defense basically pitched a shutout because the only goal scored against the Dons would not have counted as it was on a penalty shot after the clock expired, however on this night we were actually happy that Granada scored. The defense was led by Hannah Burkes, Eva Mcgrath, Mattie Rumberg, Sadie Logan and other players mentioned above.
After the 3-0 record at the kickoff Jamboree and now with this victory in the first game the JV Lady Dons hopefully plan to keep the victories coming this year. The JV Dons’ next game and hopeful victory will be at Berkeley High School on Thursday.
Go Dons!
