On a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon, the JV Dons notched their 3rd win of the season defeating the Newark Memorial Cougars 2-0 at Acalanes Stadium. The Dons played the majority of the first half defending their own end of the field but thanks to the play of our backline and goal keeper Jackson Hink the match remained scoreless. Play openedĀ up in the 2nd half and the Dons went on the attack. The first score of the afternoon started in midfield with Zack Roder intercepting a long header. Roder found Hank Bauer wide open who juked an oncoming defender and put a through ball towards the center of the box which found a streaking Jack Sutherland putting it past the charging keeper and a 1-0 lead. The second score of the day also started off the foot of Roder who put in a high arching corner kick into play. The Cougars attempted to head the ball clear but it found Dylan Machado instead who put it back on goal to the waiting foot of Omri Noiman deflecting the shot into the back of the net. With the win the Dons improved their record to 3-0-1 on the season. This week JV Boys: Tuesday, 5pm at home vs Ygnacio Valley High & Thursday, 5pm at Northgate High.
