On Wednesday the Dons took on cross-country rival Mamaroneck High in the quarterfinals of the Torrey Pines Tournament less than 24 hours after their wild 3 OT win on Tuesday. The Dons got off to a hot start behind dominant post play from Jake Davis and hot shooting from Zubin Acuna, who had 3 first quarter 3s. The Dons took a 33-23 lead into the half.  

In the second half Mamaroneck came out swinging quickly erasing the Dons lead and holding Acalanes to just 4 points in the third quarter and taking a two point lead into Q4. The final period saw the Dons go down 7 and make a nice comeback effort at the very end after some strong driving finishes from Justin Zegarowski and a late Zubin 3, but a full court buzzer beater from Justin bounced off the rim and the Dons fell to Mamaroneck 55-52. The Dons take on locals La Jolla Country Day tomorrow at 3:40pm.
