Welcome to the Acalanes Dons Boosters Articles for JV football! I wish I could say that I volunteered to do these write ups, but the truth is that Jane Smith “volun-told” me that I was doing this job despite the objections of many who suffered through reading my Freshman Baseball Articles this past Spring.
As part of the role, Jane asked for one summer article about the team. Given the challenge of writing about a season that hasn’t happened yet, and my lack of ability to predict the future as proven every year in my Fantasy Football league, I turned to an expert on the topic, Nostradamus. Nostradamus was a famed French astrologer who published Les Prophéties in 1555, a collection of 942 predictions of future events that foretold tragedies such as the Great Fire of London and JFK’s assassination. As I was reading his masterpiece, I was astonished to find his never-before-seen 943rd prediction related to the Acalanes Dons JV football team in 2022. Although it didn’t indicate how many games the team will win, which player will have the most total yards from scrimmage, and so forth, it did predict the following:
- Coach Randy Henderson will be successful in his 6th year of coaching at Acalanes and first year as Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, making football fun for the players and getting everyone involved
- Coach Bill Fraser, also in his 6th year of coaching at Acalanes, will build a winning team culture on Defense as Defensive Coordinator
- Greg Young will support Randy and Bill having served as the previous JV Head Coach
- Junior coaches Anthony Ortale, Michael Kuhner, and Devin Miniello will build comraderies with the players and provide support to the Defensive Line, Offensive Line, and Defensive Backs respectively
- Kristie Darin and Gina McKenzie will be awesome as 2nd year and rookie team moms respectively
- Stuart Colaco, in his rookie year, will take the lead writing these articles with support from 2nd year veteran Brian Miles
- Missy Goldwyn will take amazing pictures as the team photographer in her 2nd year
- Jane Smith will be the Booster Rep for all the football teams and will continue to bleed Blue
- Other parents will step up to host the banquet and pasta feeds, and donate snacks and drinks all season
- The players will not only compete hard each game, but will also have fun and bond throughout the summer and fall through the weight trainings, practices, and team activities
- The parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, alumni, and all the other fans who come to the games will bring their unwavering enthusiasm and support
Look forward to seeing everyone in the stands this fall. Go Dons!
