In a non-league game Tuesday night, the Acalanes girls varsity lacrosse team lost to a formidable Carondelet squad. The Dons strung together moments of strength to score two goals before halftime, both by #24 Grace Imrie. But the Cougars’ speed, stickwork and offense was too much for our Dons, and we struggled with winning draws, ground balls and turnovers – – by the end of the first half we were trailing by eight goals.
The result after 50 minutes of play was a lot of offense for Carondelet and a lot of defense for Acalanes – – the big tribute Tuesday goes to goalie Addie Martin (#65) who seemed to make saves all night – – Even the Carondolet statistician marked her save count higher than ours at 18! Calendar the final score under “February” at 2-18:)
On Friday @7pm we face Alhambra in a league game, which is historically a more favorable matchup – –
For the first games of the year, we’ve played two incredibly strong teams (Campolindo & Carondelet), and another that was a perfect match (Northgate) – – the record thankfully stands at 1-2, and there’s a LOT to learn from all three games – – this group will see another 14 games through the end of April, and there will be plenty of tough competitors along the way! Go Dons::: ALL OUT, ALL THE TIME!!
