Continuing her historic campaign that began in fall Cross Country, sophomore Olivia Williams recorded an INCREDIBLE 3200 meter performance at this Saturday’s Marsh Creek Invitational, shattering the school record with a time of 10:24.85. She did all of that while running multiple laps ahead of her competition, and was so far ahead that the meet director didn’t realize she was on her last lap until after she finished.
For some context, 10:24.85 for 3200 meters (about 2 miles) is:
- Only the 3rd sub 11 minute performance in school history
- About 30 seconds better than the previous school record of 10:53.77 set in 2013
- About 10 seconds faster than anyone in NCS
- The 3rd best time in the United States at the time of this posting
On the boys side, sophomore Paul Kuhner faced off against 6 of the top sprinters in the section in what easily could have been the NCS finals. Paul finished 4th in both the 100 and 200 meter dash, recording times of 10.98 and 22.29. Both performances rank 3rd on the Acalanes Recordboard, with his 100m time being only the 4th sub-11 second performance in school history. Both marks are also the fastest times ever recorded by an Acalanes underclassman, displacing records set by sophomores Bruce Licht (100m, 1976) and Tim Green (200m, 1986).
