The Dons JV boys volleyball team garnered two more straight-set victories this week to extend their undefeated start to 5-0 and 3-0 in league play. On Tuesday, the boys traveled to College Park to take on the purple Falcons. The first set was a back-and-forth contest but the Dons emerged with a 25-17 victory. In game two, the Dons rolled to a 25-8 win capped off by a booming hit from the back row by Ryan Yu to end the match and send the Dons into a celebratory frenzy. The above photo of Yu immediately following his match-sealing hit says it all! Setter Miles Thomas consistently delivered beautiful sets to an array of Dons hitters including the one pictured below.
The Dons next faced the Las Lomas Knights at home on Thursday and again emerged with a straight-set victory. The first game featured outstanding serving by the Dons with numerous aces by Matt Law, Griffin Ruebner, and Douglas Roberts. One of Law’s booming jump serves is shown below. Joe Colachico and Ruebner each had several winners at the net including one below from Ruebner. The second game included a stirring comeback by the Knights to pull within one point of the Dons late in the game but Tommy Terrien delivered the game-winner with a nice hit from the back row through the Knights defense to end it at 25-23.
The Dons volleyballers have a busy schedule next week with home matches against Campo on Tuesday, Alhambra on Thursday, and Monte Vista on Friday. Come out and support your Dons while watching exciting volleyball!
