The Lady Dons came from behind on an emotional Senior Night at Clayton Valley to earn victory Friday night by a score of 48 to 42. Once again the team was short handed, but the heart and fight displayed on the court Friday night was that of Champions. After a back-and-forth first quarter, the girls got thoroughly out played in the 2nd quarter and went into the half down 11. Much like many games this seasons, the Lady Dons exploded in the 3rd quarter behind relentless pressure from the 2-2-1 press. The Dons outscored the home Ugly Eagles 17 to 4 in the 3rd and went into final quarter with the lead. The 4th quarter was another defensive struggle where the girls held on and closed the deal. The Lady Dons finish the regular season 22 and 3 and 11 and 1 in League and win the Diablo Athletic League Title. Not bad for a team without one senior on the roster and a bunch of very young girls!
Sophie Chinn was the high scorer 15 points, Emily Du had 11 and Dulci Vail added 10. Natalie Lyons, Karyss Lacanlale and Natalie Frechman all played big minutes and very sound defense all night long. On Sunday we’ll find out where the girls are seeded for NCS D2. Most expect it to be the #1 seed which would mean 3 home games for NCS. Go Dons!
