On behalf of Acalanes Football, we thank the extraordinary excitement and enthusiasm from all the Don fans for the Homecoming game and week, including the Acalanes Pep Band, Cheerleaders and especially Mrs. Walton, school administration leaders, 17 class officers, 6 ASB Officers and 80 leadership students and many parent volunteers for an incrediBLUE week! This year’s homecoming was like no other from decorated school hallways, spirited daily competitions, honorary football captains, big football game victory and an amazing Homecoming party (over 900 Dons!) Saturday under the stars.
School spirit is not something you can easily define. That’s because school spirit consists of a vast number of things. School spirit is the feeling you get as you step into the stadium to cheer on the Dons at football games, proudly wearing your Acalanes t-shirt, participating in the class HoCo skits, volunteering for anything school related, joining a club on campus, playing on a Dons athletic team and actually looking forward to school on Sunday morning (well, maybe that’s a little extreme… but you get the point?) Acalanes school spirit involves a strong emotional connection, whether it’s athletically, academically or socially it impacts our community.
And in the end, that was what makes going to Acalanes so exciting and so special is the school spirit: teachers, classrooms, little moments, big moments, coaches, big games, and special friendships. A togetherness bond that develops over the high school years. It is having teachers (and coaches) that poured their hearts out into students, day after day. And, then graduating, into the “real” world knowing that you cherish your Acalanes school years for the rest of life.
Once again…thank you Acalanes students, staff, and the Lafayette community for supporting Acalanes Football and all the Dons everyday, every week-together! Thank you for a DONtastic homecoming week!
