Acalanes overcame a slow first quarter start, turning an 8-0 deficit into a a 29-16 halftime lead, and running away with a 51-29 win over College Park Wednesday in Lafayette.
Logan Farzan got the Dons started by exploding for 8 points to lead the first quarter comeback, in his breakout game of the season. Calvin Kotarba contributed multiple steals and transition lay ups to the big Acalanes run.
Coach Eric Thomas was pleased with the overall team effort, saying “We’ve made a habit out of starting slow and today was no exception. But we have a really tough and resilient group of guys and we were able to quickly settle down and take control of the game defensively thanks to key contributions from everyone who took the floor.”
Ten different players scored for the Dons, led by Calvin Kotarba with 14 points and Logan Farzan with 10. Cooper Edelman, Trevor Carrillo, Liam Krackeler, Jake Elerts, Jordan Brown, Liam O’Keeffe, Quincy Patterson, and Alex Kurimai also got buckets.
