The JV Boys basketball team extended their season-best win steak to five games as they beat visiting Clayton Valley Charter School by a final score of 66 to 56 Friday night. The Dons came out of the gate relatively slow, not matching their opponents’ energy level and aggressiveness, which resulted in an eight point deficit, 19-11, at the end of the first quarter. From that point, the Dons amped up their defensive effort while keeping pace in scoring to go into halftime still down eight, 30 to 22. In one of their best quarters of the season, the Dons held the Ugly Eagles to 11 points in the third, but exploded on offense with 23 of their own points to take a five point lead into the fourth wherein they doubled that margin to walk away victors 66 to 56. Leading the way on offense was Yanaton Draznin with 21 points, 10 of which came in the third quarter, followed by Noah Bloch with 16, 9 of which also came in the third quarter. The team next plays at home on Monday, at 5:30 pm, against Northgate High School, the last team to have defeated the Dons before the current win streak began. Come support the boys as they look to complete a consecutive game sweep of their league opponents!
