The Clayton Valley Eagles team colors are red, white and blue. The Freshman Dons team colors are now blue, white and ‘rad’. Why not?! The Frosh team is a loyal, hardworking, cohesive, talented, fun, winning crew. Yes! they are ‘rad’ .

The Statue of Liberty is 111 feet, 6 inches. Bennett Dodge is not that tall, but he takes the liberty at each game to get the jump ball for the Dons. Tonight Bennett tipped it to Miller Smith for the first basket for the Dons and the game was on. Teams that shoot at a higher percentage give themselves a tremendous competitive advantage. All other factors being equal, it’s clear as a Liberty Bell that the better shooting team will win. And that’s what the Frosh Dons or the United Shooters of Acalanes do to win! (Hum American the Beautiful now)

“The eagle has landed,” stated American Neil Armstrong on the moon. Well, the eagle can land on the moon, but not on the basketball court. The Dons landed hard In the first quarter, and it was one giant leap (in the score) for the Don-kind, 18 to 3.
The Eagles did test the Dons making this win a tad tougher than their other recent opponents. But the Dons fought for their Life , Liberty and the pursuit of Hoops. Basketball is a very strategic game. Our Dons coaches on the sideline are constantly studying the game, making the right adjustments, and trying to outsmart the other team. The Dons were in control the entire game and the Eagles could not catch up. Miller Smith was the high scorer of the game with 16 . Others adding to the Dons score were Jack Bayless (14), Landon Best-Santos (12), Bennett Dodge (9) and Coco Gannon (2).

Although scoring is exciting, fun to watch like fireworks on the Fourth of July, defense is a key to winning any basketball game. The Dons often changed up their defense, as they did tonight with a blockade of the Eagles in the corners to stop the 3 pointers.
The Dons wore down the Eagles mentally and physically with their commitment on the defensive end. Towards the end of the second half, the Eagles fouled enough to get the Dons into bonus and were rewarded with making their free throws. The Dons closed out the game, 53 to 37.

The Frosh Dons pledge their allegiance to the team of the United Shooters of Acalanes and to the hoop which it stands, one Team under Coach Bob indivisible, with layups and rebounds for all.
