Home Frosh Games-Dec 21 (3pm) and Jan 4 (1pm)
Twas the night before Winter Break and all through the school
The Dons focused on finals and keeping it cool
The Dons’ basketball shoes were hung care The Frosh team ready to finish up and get that ball up in the air
The Dons players were dressed all snug in their threads,
While visions of victory danced in their heads.
No vacation over break. just playing basketball games,
Dons parents & friends ready to cheer and yell their names
When out in the gym there arose such a clatter,
Mr. Bell sprang from his seat to see what was the matter.
Down to the gym he flew with a dash,
through open the door and saw a blue flash
The Dons were shooting baskets all in a row
Mr. Bell knows the Dons never score zero
When what to his wondering eyes should appear,
but a energized Frosh Dons with holiday cheer
With a smile and a yell, so lively and quick,
Coach Bob shouted “Let’s Go Dons’ (hey Bob looks like St. Nick)
More rapid than eagles, Dons they came.
The fans whistled and shouted, and called them by name:
Go Jack! Go Zubin ! Go Nostrad! Go Kim!
Now, Smith, Dodge and Kaleo with his hair!
On Nathan, On Justin, On Dom,
and Coco and Landon, Let’s fly in the air!
To the top of the key!
To the three-point line!
Now, shoot away! Shoot away!
Shoot away fine!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly
when they meet with an obstacle and mount to the sky,
So up to the hoop their courses they flew,
with their minds full of a win . . . Let’s Go BLUE!
And then, in a twinkling, Mr. Bell watched with a poof:
Miller’s three-pointers sent the fans to the roof!
As he drew in his head and was turning around,
down the court Jack came with a bound!
Jack’s jersey was white, from his head to shoes on his foot,
and his headband was covered in sweat and some soot.
With a bundle of energy, CoCo passed the ball back,
and Bennett dunked it with authority. A potent attack!
Coach Bob’s eyes, how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
and the light on his face was as bright as the snow.
The grin of a lead he held tight in his teeth,
and the fans cheered crazily as other team fell beneath!
Coach Eric had a happy face and a firm little belly,
that shook when he cheered, like a bowl full of jelly.
Coach Eric was tall and didn’t slump, he looks like an elf.
And Mr. Bell laughed when he saw him, in spite of himself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
soon gave him to know he had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, during the referee’s timeout.
“Dons Show Up!” the Dons Fans did shout!
And pointing his finger, up in the air it rose,
signaling “We’re No. 1!” Now everyone knows!
Mr. Bell sprang to his feet, as the ref blew the final whistle,
and away they all flew to the locker room like a missile!
But I heard him exclaim
as he ran out of sight:
“Merry Christmas to all who wear Blue and White!
