You can’t always control how many three point shots fall in the basket, but you can control the intensity, effort, and execution of your basketball Defense. The Dons brought their ‘D‘ game as in D-E-F-E-N-S-E to defeat the Washington Huskies, 63 -32.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens are some people’s favorite things. My favorite thing is Bennett Dodge playing center. Bennett brought his B Game, B for blocking. Strong shot blocking, as the Don’s center, Bennett has the important role to keep smaller players from coming into the lane to take easy shots. And Boy! He did on Saturday! With Jack Bayless next to Bennett, it’s like the 24 hwy at 5pm on a Friday, you are stuck and going nowhere. (Sorry Huskies!)

Justin Zegarowski, Coco Gannon, Colin Norstad, Kaleo Feinberg (I got to write the entire team because everyone did being their D game) Zubin Acuna, Nathan Bennett, Dominic Sarica, Nathan Kim, Evren Rose and Miller Smith kept the Huskies away from the basket and they all DON-inated at key times on the court. Bravo!

TEAMWORK-it’s BLUE-tiful!

The Dons controlled the game on the offense side as well. Miller Smith brought his C game. Confidence! The first half of the game, Miller made 3 pointers, lay ups and free throws to collect 25 points by half time with the aid of Jack Bayless and Bennett Dodge to give the Don’s the halftime total of 33 to the Huskies, 13.

In the second half, the Dons brought more points with contributions from Landon, Coco, Justin, and Nathan B. Zubin dropped his magic 3 pointer in the fourth quarter. (note: if you have never seen ‘a Zubin 3 pointer’, put it on your bucket list. He delivers it smooth like Carlos Santana strumming the guitar).

Miller Smith was selected on the ‘All Tournament Team’ and the Dons came home with a win…because the Frosh Team always brings their A game!
Start your 2020 year with some Dons cheer for your Frosh Dons: Saturday, January 4 at 1 pm at home against Silver Creek and Tuesday, January 7 at 4pm at home against Miramonte.

HAPPY NEW YEAR DONS!
