IN FIRST PRE-SEASON GAME, VARSITY BOYS FORCE THREE OVERTIMES IN NARROW LOSS TO FOOTHILL

As host of Tuesday night‘s NCS Foundation game, the boys basketball team delivered an exciting first pre-season game, forcing Foothill High of Pleasanton into three overtimes before the Dons ultimately fell one bucket short inj a heartbreaking 71-73 loss.  The Dons displayed hustle, teamwork, and skill in the second half as they dug themselves out of an 8-point deficit. The fourth quarter was a highlight of the game.  Scott Ruegg was on fire, taking full control of offense and scoring all 13 of the Dons’ fourth quarter points.  Aidan Bodner powerfully led the defense, limiting Foothill to only 6 fourth quarter points.  The first OT began with a score of 53-53.  The Dons scored 18 more points during three OTs.  Aidan continued his rebounds and knockdowns; Graham Smith added 7 points to his 11 regulation points; Scott scored 6 of his 28 total points during OT, and Jackson Aris-Dumas sunk one of his two 3 pointers during OT.  The team’s discipline and practice was on full display as Jackson, Graham, and Scott were 100% from the free throw line.  The team was grateful for the energetic support of the girls basketball team!  Varsity’s next game is the annual Alumni Game Wednesday at 7:00 pm game at Acalanes; admission is free.
