The Dons played like a well oiled machine and the only question was .. who wasn’t on fire?! Emma Johnson started the first set off right with a 7 point serving run, including 3 aces. Carly Coffee had her first dig of the night, setting up a Tate Huisingh bomb. Add a Gianna Manzone smasher to the end line, and Dons werealready up 13-5. The Knights start to battle back with an attack of their own, but libero Kira Wood wss having none of it and threw herself to the floor for a save and a message: the Dons aren’t making it easy tonight! Another Manzone kill, a couple of aces by Hanna Hageboeck , and a Maya Paul roof sealed the win 25-18.
Alara Rose opened up the second set with a deep kill. Mara Korzeniowska came in to set and gave Huisingh just what she needed for a perfect hit to the back corner.. no one there, oh well! More kills all around for attackers Hageboeck, Johnson, Manzone and Huisingh with help from Natalie Marsh’s soft touch sets. The Don’s offense was a force! Paul served for 4 more points and made it look easy. Coach Alan was beaming! Coffee, not only covering, but hitting from the back row added one more kill to the Dons tally. The team witnessed an amazing defensive performance by Chloe Wu, who was literally everywhere and had some legendary saves!
