Logan Hurd was the star of Tuesday’s game against Northgate High School, pitching a complete game shutout, and notching the 1-0 win for Acalanes. Logan went the distance in the game, allowing just two hits, one walk, no runs, and striking out 10, with brother Thatcher Hurd calling a great game from behind the plate. With the win against Northgate, the Varsity Dons improve their League record to 3-0, and their overall record to 10-0.
While the bats were quieter than usual for Acalanes, the Dons had enough at the plate to pull out the win. Nick Kresnak went 2 for 3 at the plate, with Scott Brydon and Nick Bamont (with 2 stolen bases) also getting hits. Tommy Thrasher’s RBI in the first, which scored Bamont, was the one run the Dons put up in this game, and turned out to be enough to claim the win.
The Dons next play Northgate on the road on Thursday, in the second game of the two-game series. This season’s League schedule features Tuesday/Thursday series against the same school, which favors teams with pitching depth, like Acalanes has this year. Go Dons!
