Proving that their upset at Campolindo in last year’s NCS playoffs was no fluke, the defending NCS champion Acalanes Dons boys volleyball team again defeated Campo to capture the championship at a tourney hosted by Leland High School in San Jose on Saturday. Unlike last year’s long match in the NCS semifinals that went to five games, this time the Dons dispatched the Cougars in straight sets, 25-21 and 25-23. The Dons went 4-0 on the day, including a 3-set victory over a talented Cupertino team in the semifinals. The title marked the first time in recent memory that the Dons had captured a tourney title. With the victory over Campo, the Dons’ record improved to 11-1 on the season.
