The Dons traveled deep into Walnut Creek on Tuesday for their only game of the week at Northgate. After a shaky 5-5 start some journalists would blame on late homecoming activities, the team pulled away to make it 10-5. Aisha Mohanty started the rally with a strong serving run and set OH Makenzie Sauer up for several kills as well. Kylie Wood dominated at the net and Tate Huisingh followed up with a nice run of service to stetch the lead to 21-7. The Broncos put up a spirited rally to make it 21-13 but kills from oppo Lauren Davis and an ace from DS Daisy Sibley ended it 25-13.
The second set opened with 2 service points from setter Sarah Coons then a long string of sideouts pushed it to 8-10 before libero Sydney Sowarby ran off a couple quick points including a kill on a 1 from Aly Kirke and some nice swings from Emma Johnson to make it 8-14. Sydney and DS Audrey Passalacqua had about 15 digs in the series as they and Maren Takeuchi controlled the back line and the Dons ran it to 19-10 in short order forcing a timeout. In the end the Dons were too much for the Broncos and pulled away 25-14. Good job Dons!
