Clayton Valley used its superior size, strength and speed to beat Acalanes 49-3 last Friday on Clayton’s black turf field.
The first quarter went well enough for the Dons. Linebacker Alex Cortessis forced a fumble and the offense moved the ball to set up a Hunter Ridley field goal that kept them in it early at 7-3. But the Dons offense could not move the ball after that which left the defense on the field all too often and the Ugly Eagles just wore them down. Tommy Thrasher, Scott Brydon and Cole Murgia excelled on defense for the Dons with each making numerous tackles. While the offensive line also did its part, it was not enough against a physically superior team.
The Dons will be excited to face Northgate in their homecoming game this Friday.
