Acalanes Girls Lacrosse Update: Dons Rolling

Our Varsity Lady Dons visited College Park on Tuesday night.  Freshman Grace Imrie and Senior Lyla Cox scored early, thanks to assists from Senior Grace Gebhardt.  The Dons then struggled on both ends of the field for a while until Coaches Bill Fraser and Mark Rurka called a timeout.  They had the girls run their own time out to “figure it out.” Then, Senior Grace Gebhardt dominated the draw and scored 11 straight goals!  Defensively our Lady Dons stepped up their game in the second half.  Senior goalie Della Pascucci had some key saves.  Grace Imrie and Grace Gebhardt both added goals late in the game to put the Falcons away 15-8.  Next game at Alhambra Thursday night!

In the past couple of weeks the Acalanes Girls JV Lacrosse team has continued their success and run their record to 9 wins and 0 losses.  Last week the Lady Dons beat Campolindo twice in very competitive games by the scores of 8 to 4 and 8 to 5.  The hustle by our players is amazing and both were truly “team wins”, with all healthy players getting some real playing time against Campo.  The coaches could not have been prouder of our young ladies.  Last night the team faced a College Park squad that played several Varsity players along with their JV players.  However, once again the Don’s prevailed by a score of 11 to 8 (once again all 35 healthy players played).  There are so many names to mention but two standouts from last night were Maya Wang and Jo Jo Bishop.  Jo Jo scored two goals and Maya scored three.  Maya seemed to be everywhere on the field at all times!

The JV Lady Dons continue their season this Saturday at home against Las Lomas, who will be bringing both Varsity and JV players to play against our team.  As we wind down our season I can speak on behalf of all of our players how thankful we are that so many people including Randy Takahashi and the Boosters have helped enable our young ladies to have a fantastic season during these difficult times!

Go Dons!
