Varsity Baseball Downs Miramonte in a Shutout

Eddie Burns was locked in on Thursday, pitching 5.2 shutout innings.

The Varsity Dons claimed the win on Thursday in the second match-up this week against Miramonte, this time beating them in a 3-0 shutout.

Eddie Burns was fantastic on the mound, getting the start and the win, pitching 5.2 shutout innings while allowing just 3 hits, no runs, no walks and 6 strikeouts. Burns’ performance never allowed Miramonte to get anything started against Acalanes. Michael Castelli kept a good thing going as he closed out the final 1.1 innings with no hits, no walks and 2 strikeouts.

Scott Brydon led the offense in the game, with the right hit at the right time to drive in two runs. Nicolas Bamont‘s double drove in the Dons’ third run of the day. Thatcher Hurd also had a hit in the game. While there were only two strikeouts of Dons on Tuesday, balls hit by Acalanes players seemed to have an uncanny ability to find Miramonte gloves in this game. That said, the Dons had enough to get the “W” and take both games in the series against the Matadors.

Acalanes Varsity is now 6-0 in league play and 16-2 overall. The Dons next play on Tuesday 4/23 at home against cross-town rival Campolindo in a two-game series. Go Dons!
