Varsity Baseball Wins 11-1; Murgia Goes 4 for 4

The Varsity Dons beat Mission San Jose High School on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 11-1. Lots of players got in on the offensive action, but Cole Murgia was unstoppable, racking up a triple and 3 singles over four at-bats. When he wasn’t hitting to get on base, he was busy stealing them, with 3 stolen bases on the day.

Nick Kresnak’s bat stayed hot on Tuesday, when he hit a home run in the 1st inning and a double in the 2nd. Thatcher Hurd and Ben Woodruff also had extra base hits on the day. Nick Bamont, Davis Diaz, Scott Brydon and Peter Meade all contributed base hits during the game.

Dons pitching was solid again on Tuesday, holding Mission San Jose to just 3 hits and with 11K’s over 7 innings. Eddie Burns got the start and the win for the Dons, pitching the first 2 innings (0H, 3K’s). Four pitchers, Andrew Peterson, Michael Castelli, Logan Hurd and Davis Diaz, got work in over the next 5 innings to preserve the win.

The 5-0 Varsity Dons next play on Friday away at Napa High School.

JV Baseball Wins in a 17-0 Shutout

Junior Varsity run-ruled Mission San Jose High School 17-0 in five innings in Tuesday’s home game. Graham Smith had 2 hits and 3 RBI’s on the day. Jack Cusumano, Kade Finegold and Mitchell Franklin all had extra base hits. Miles Bergman (3 RBIs), Ben Burleigh (2 RBIs) and Drew Davidson also had hits on the day.

Ethan Lerch got the start and the win. Elias Warres and Miles Bergman handled the other 3 innings of the game that was shortened by the run rule.

JV next plays at Napa High School on Friday afternoon.
