The Acalanes Track & Field team is off to a great start after defeating Las Lomas in our first dual meet competition. In addition to team wins of 68-51 (Girls) and 95-40 (Boys), there were over 100 individual Personal Records set. Some of the many highlights are detailed below. Go Dons!
Distance
- Sam Roth makes his debut in the 3200m, capturing first place with a PR of 10:36. Josh Evans finished 4th in this race with a PR of 11:11
- Rayce Walton battled fiercely to 2nd in the 800m with a PR of 2:03
- Nicole Frigon and Caroline Crossland finished 1-2 in the 800m with 2:29 and 2:35
- Nick Emtage pushed through the 6 min mile barrier with a new PR of 5:59
- Thena Huisingh, Claire McNally, and Megan Baginski crashed the 3 min 800m barrier with PRs of 2:52, 2:56, and 2:55.
Relays
- The Frosh-Soph Girls 4×100 win their first race
- The Varsity Boys 4×100 overcome some bad handoffs and cruise to 8th place All-Time at Acalanes with an NCS #4 time of 43.90
- Mikaela Truong holds off a surge from the Las Lomas Girls 4×400 as the Dons win the race
Sprints
- Collectively, Girls and Boys Sprinters post 39 PR’s in the 100 and 200
- Beth Hamalian, Ella Alpert, and Brooke Blacklidge sweep the Frosh Soph Girls 100 Meter Dash
- Keaziah Smith wins the 100 meter dash with an NCS #4 time of 11.14
- Aidan Mosely, Lucas Eppinger, and Jake Delaney break the 12 second barrier in the 100 meter dash – Dons sweep this event as well
- Maren Quintella wins the 100 meter hurdles
- Freshman Eric Maland PR’s in the 200, winning his first heat
Jumps
- Acalanes Boys Jumpers sweep the Long Jump, Triple Jump, and High Jump, finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in all 3 events
- Johnny Choi narrowly misses the school record at 6’7” in the high jump
- Scarlette McCullough captures first in Pole Vault and Long Jump
- Sophomore Tucker Starbuck PR’s in the Pole Vault with a jump of 8’6” and takes the win
- Freshman Devin Miniello scores his first varsity point in the Triple Jump
- Katrina Ortman PR’s in the Long Jump and wins the Frosh-Soph Girls event
Throws
- Brooke Blacklidge PR’s in the Discus – she also takes first in the Frosh-Soph Girls Shotput
- John Kalil scores his first varsity point, taking third in the Shotput
- Billy Brown PR’s in the Shotput and the Discus
