Varsity Women’s Soccer Settles for a tie Against Benicia

The Varsity Women’s Soccer team played a tough Benicia squad on Wednesday night. At half time, the score was 0-0. Both teams were playing well. About 10 minutes into the second half, Ivy Souza made a great steal to gain possession, found Sasha Sadoff on the wing, Sasha then beat her defender and crossed it to the center where Beth Daughters was able to find the back of the net to make the score 1-0.

The Dons were in control for the rest of the second half, having possession of the ball for most of the game. The defense, anchored by Sophomores Sami Hansen and Aliye Wingate, was stellar, as it has been all season long. With less than one minute left in the game, somehow Benicia was able to slip one by to tie it up 1-1. A gut-punch.

Gabby Ortale, Megan Go, and Dylan Hagglund all played tough for the Dons.

The Dons will play at home next Friday night against Ygnacio Valley at 7pm.

Go DONS!
