New Acalanes Strength & Conditioning Program!

Through the support of our generous members and donors, Boosters is proud to launch a new Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Program for all Acalanes Athletes!

All athletes and coaches are invited to Join the S&C Program launch August 29th at 3:00 outside between the big gym and small gym!

The Acalanes S&C is designed to prevent injuries, increase strength, flexibility and speed, and generally improve the performance of all our athletes.   The new S&C program consists of three components:

  •  A dedicated S&C coach
  •  A technology platform that demonstrates proper technique, distributes workout programs, and tracks athlete progress
  •  New and expanded S&C equipment

S&C Coach

Welcome Logan Beal!  Logan is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from St. Mary’s college.   Logan earned a BS in Human Physiology from University of Oregon, has delivered S&C training at both high school and colleges, was a varsity football coach at South Eugene High School (his alma mater) , and currently is a personal trainer and instructor at St. Mary’s College.   Logan will work closely with our athletic trainer, Chris Clark, and all of our sports coaches to deliver education, tailored S&C programs and personal supervision for all our athletes.  We are thrilled to have Logan join our athletic program at Acalanes!

S&C Technology Platform

Our student athletes live on their phones, and technology is a key part of their daily lives.  Accordingly, technology plays a key role in the new S&C program.   Bridge Athletic, our technology partner, builds high-performance training tools for coaches and athletes at all levels, including olympians, professional athletes, collegiate and high school athletes, and individuals.  The Bridge platform provides:

  • Workout programs tailored by sport and level of athlete
  • Video and written instruction and tips on proper exercise techniques
  • Personal tracking for each athlete’s progress
  • Reporting and monitoring of athlete progress for coaches

The Bridge platform makes it possible for any Acalanes athlete, whether they are in-season, pre-season or off-season, to follow a program tailored specifically for them, as well as learn how to properly execute each exercise.

S&C Equipment

Lastly, the new S&C program includes expanding and updating our current equipment.   This includes not only traditional weights and dumb bells, but medicine balls, TRX-type suspension training equipment, plyometric equipment, racks and more.   Over time, and funding permitting, we will continue to expand and update the equipment available for our athletes.
