Soccer – Boys Varsity – Two ties and one more week of play before NCS!

On Wednesday, Acalanes tied a strong Alhambra team 2-2 at home (DFAL). The Dons dominated most of the first period and were rewarded with a penalty kick converted by junior and captain Dan Glascock. 1-0 at the half. After the break, Alhambra took control of the game and scored twice to take the lead. In a difficult position, the Dons never lost hope and finally tied the game 4 minutes before the end by Glascock (his 14th goal of the season!) on a nice feed from senior Austin DeBack.

Hosts on Saturday of one of the D1 powerhouses, Monte Vista, in a non-league game, the Dons tied again (1-1) in a game where each team had his period of domination, but failed to take advantage of it. Senior & captain Aidan Maguire scored the only goal for the Dons on a solo effort.

With a DFAL record of 7-0-3, 24 pts (11-1-7 overall), Acalanes enters the final week of the regular season in first place, 3 points ahead of Campolindo (6-1-3, 21 pts) and 2 games to play, at Miramonte on Wednesday (6:15pm) and at home against Dublin on Friday (6:15pm) for what is also Senior Night. The Dons will also play their last non-league game vs Bishop O’Dowd this Monday (7pm). Please come support the Dons for this crucial week! See you there… Go Dons!
