Sep 23 – JV Girls Tennis : Acalanes 5 – College Park 1

The Lady Dons played well at all lines to defeat College Park High 5-1 on the road. Olivia Towery and Jess Gerson began the Acalanes scoring at D-5, by blanking their opponents 6-0 in a six-game pro set format. Claire Terentieff and Olivia Olson controlled both the net and their College Park foes to bring home a 6-1 win at D-4. Sally Tang and Maddie McDonagh at D-3 served and volleyed well in hanging a bagel (6-0) on their opponents.

Lia Swan teamed with Sammy Browne to ring up a terrific 6-2 win at D-6, again by controlling the net and dictating play. At D-1 Vivian Toni and Mia Westphal dropped their first set 2-6, but then regrouped and refocused to prevail 6-1 against a difficult, unorthodox College Park pair. Mia and Vivian showed real mental toughness.

The final and most competitive match of the day saw Sophia Lindgren and Hayley Gotelli rally from 4-5 down at D-2 to rip off three consecutive games and walk away winners 7-5. Some of our lines had finished their second exhibition set before Sophia and Hayley got off the court. Many of the games in this match went to deuce; and Sophia and Hayley had to break serve twice in the last three games. This was a really fine competitive effort.

It was a great effort for all of the Lady Don pairs this afternoon.
