Sep 15 – JV GIRLS TENNIS – Dougherty Valley 8 – Acalanes 0

All of our lines competed hard in a 8-0 loss to the defending DFAL Girls Tennis Champions from Dougherty Valley today. At D-1, Kelly Min and Sam Sweeney rallied from 3-6 down to take their 8-game pro set to a tiebreaker at 8-8. They even took the tiebreaker beyond 7-points before Dougherty Valley could break through 8-6.

All of our freshmen pairs competed really well in their first DFAL action. Milena Lucey shook off being drilled in the back by Emily Klein’s serve and they went on to take 5 games from their opponents at D-6. Shannon McVay and Lauren Craig won 4 games from their opponents in a really hard-fought match at D-5. Molly Cronk and Sophia Scipi playing at D-4 lost 8-2, but the match was much closer than the score would indicate. Many of their games went to deuce before being decided.

Overall, the Lady Dons really played well against a fine DFAL opponent. While it was a tough day on the court, the pain started with Olivia Olson being stung by a bee during the team introductions. Playing through the pain, Liv partnered with Lia Swan at D-7 and played a tough match winning 4 games.

We look forward to taking on Campo in an away match on Thursday.
