Acalanes 5 – Salesian 0

The JV tennis team swept a scrimmage with Salesian High of Richmond 5-0.

Captains Maggie Curless and Jess Gerson recorded the first Lady Dons win with an 8-0 shutout at D-3. Maggie and Jess took control of the match early and maintained their focus throughout.

At D-1, Lauren Craig and Shannon McVay cruised to an 8-1 victory. Shannon served extremely well and Lauren put away a number of winners at the net.

The most competitive match of the day was again played by our D-2 combo of Sophia Scipi and Molly Cronk. Molly ran down a number of balls to keep points alive and Sophia’s ground strokes accounted for a number of clean winners in their 8-3 win.

Skyler DeMartini and Niki Palamountain, playing at D-4 also pitched a shutout by recording an 8-0 victory. Niki’s service returns kept Salesian backed up and Skyler served a number of aces on the way to the Acalanes win.

Playing in the final match of the day, Milena Lucey and Sophia Cooper maintained their focus against a mis-matched Salesian team. Salesian paired their one of their D-1 players with a beginner against Sophia and Milena. Often when playing an unskilled opponent you can lose your focus and have your game suffer. Sophia and Milena communicated effectively and maintained their focus all the way to an 8-1 win.
