Acalanes Freshman Volleyball Team continued their winning streak Tuesday, again beating Las Lomas in two sets 25-15, 25-18. While Acalanes lost the first point of the set, they regained the lead quickly and never let it go again. Service aces from TaylorOdom, Jililan Wickline and a nice service run (five of which were aces) from Sarah Moore left no doubt the Lady Dons had come to win. Kills were provided by Holly Gillar, Odom and Moore, off assists by HollyFleischmann, while defense led by YingStroebe and aided by Claire Amaral denied many attempts at scoring by the Knights. At 24-15, a sweet tip by LilyBauer ended the match. Dons win 25-15.
The Lady Dons traveled to Dublin Tuesday to take on the Lady Gaels, besting them in three sets, 25-10, 24-26, 15-7. The first set was owned by Acalanes. Service runs from Alta Paladino and Sarah Moore, along with aces from LilyBauer and a screaming bullet from HollyGillar kept the higher score consistently on the Dons side. When the ball was actually returned, kills from TaylorOdom and Gillar, off assists from DoryGrobeck, silenced the opponents. Defense remained strong led by YingStroebe, who had nice back row shots, as well as a scrambling save by ClaireAmaral, to deny the Gaels extra points. The final two points by Groebek, one of which was an ace, ended the first match.
