The Dons qualify for the NCS Final with a lot of class!
In probably their most accomplished game (defensively & offensively) of the season, the Dons defeated defending NCS champion Dublin 2-0 on Wednesday in the semi-finals to qualify for another championship game. Acalanes dominated the entire game, with excellent combinations upfront and the usual defensive rigor in the back. In a period of intense pressure from the hosts, senior & co-captain Nick Pereira scored an opportunist goal after 28′ in the first half. After the break, the Dons continued playing with a strong intensity and were finally rewarded with a beautiful second goal from junior David Dadiomov, assisted by junior & co-captain Dylan Autran. Contra Costa Times Athlete of the week, junior GK Jackson Foote was never really threatened but made a couple of courageous saves to keep a clean sheet. Acalanes will play another familiar opponent – Campolindo – in the NCS Final at Las Lomas on Saturday (5pm). Acalanes Sports fans, come and support the Dons for the “Big Game”! Go Dons!

For the 3rd year in a row, the Dons make the NCS Final Four!
Facing seed #10 Pinole Valley – surprising 2nd in their league (ACCAL) between D1 powers Berkeley and Richmond – Acalanes, seeded #2, knew that it would not be an easy game. With their status of outsiders, the Spartans didn’t have anything to lose and were expected to give everything to the end. If the first half was intense, with a few clear chances on both sides; neither team could find the opening. The answer came 5 minutes after the break for the Dons with a low shot from the eighteen by junior & co-captain Dylan Autran, following an intense pressure on the opposing defense. In the last 35 minutes of the game, the Dons tried but were unable to score a second goal but the defensive effort of the entire team did the rest. The Dons will now play a familiar opponent (and defending NCS champion) – Dublin – in the semifinals this Wednesday (7pm) at home.
Go Dons!

Another DFAL title for the Dons, tied at the top with Campo!
With a 8-1-3 record, the Dons are the Diablo Foothills Athletic League champions, a title they will share this year with Campo. This past week was a very special one for the 8 seniors in the team (Nick Bischoff, Cam Carda, Adrian Chow-Danel, Steve Glascock, David Helfrich, Sean McArthur, Max Omick and captain Nick Pereira) who were honored – as well as their parents – on Wednesday and played their last league game on Friday at Las Lomas (2-2). In this important game, Acalanes led 1-0 at the half (goal from Carda, at the reception of a nice free-kick from junior and captain Dylan Autran), then were caught by surprise in the first minute of the second half (1-1), took the lead again on a penalty kick by Autran (2-1) and finally conceded a second goal at the last minute of the game. The Dons will now focus on the NCS playoffs, where they are seeded #2 (Campo is #1) and will host Kennedy Richmond on Wednesday at 7pm. Go Dons!
