Oct 5 – Girls JV Tennis vs Campolindo

The JV Lady Dons played to a tie with Campolindo this afternoon splitting 10 doubles lines 5-5.

Our D-4 team of Milena Lucey and Sophia Cooper recorded the first Acalanes point. In the most one-sided match of the day, Sophia and Milena led throughout their match on the way to an 8-3 win.

Captains Maggie Curless and Jess Gerson got into a 1-4 at D-2 hole before they stopped digging and took control of their match winning the next seven games. Maggie and Jess played solidly after their rocky start and covered the court really well.

At D-3, Niki Palamountain and Skyler DeMartini had to go to 9-7 before getting by their tough Campo opponents. Once again a timely change of overgrip by the Acalanes coaching staff turned the match around. Down 4-6 when Niki lost control of her racquet and requested a new overgrip, Skyler and Niki dug in and played tenaciously for an Acalanes win.

Sophia Scipi and Molly Cronk played the match of the day at D-1. Initially down 1-4, the Lady Dons began attacking down the alley, but still found themselves down 3-6 to a Campo team that was really tough at the net. From 3-6, Molly and Sophia refused to lose and ran off the last four games, three of them going to the sudden-death deuce point.

Alyssa Armanino and Katie Bishopp won the point that secured the Acalanes tie at D-10. Playing effectively and communicating well, Alyssa and Katie overcame an early 3-4 deficit and came home with an 8-5 victory.

All of our lines competed hard today against our rivals from Campo. We are on the road tomorrow at Miramonte
