Nov 28 – Boys Soccer Results

Varsity Boys Soccer, Winter Classic
Acalanes 1, Ygnacio Valley 0
In a strongly contested match where the referee allowed the boys to play, indeed they did play! Both teams went tooth and nail the whole game.  Fortunately, neither team were overly rough,  Ygnacio Valley did received a couple of yellow cards but to all the boys credit this match was worthy of a final.
Early on Ygnacio utilized their strong possession game to great effect, they kept the ball well and created a couple of chances.   For their part Acalances were always a threat and had a few chances of their own through seniors Danny GlascockGraham Lindgren, Stuart Lee and Jr. Max Mirner.  In fact, had both teams finished their chances we might have had a high scoring dual.
As it was senior, Lenny Adkerson, settled the match in the 51st minute.  Receiving the ball at the halfway line, Lenny rode through a tackle before speeding away from all defenders and stroked the ball over the onrushing goalie and into the back of the net for a wonderful individual goal. That goal gave Acalanes extra momentum as they fought for a second all the while Ygnacio kept up their game and were only prevented from scoring by Acalanes’ solid defense anchored by senior, Nick Warren, plus safe handling by sophomore goalie, Eric Sirott.
Acalanes record is 3-0 in the Winter Classic Tournament.
Next up…. Acalanes Tournament this Saturday.
