May 8 – Ladies Varsity Lacrosse remains undefeated in league 12-0, and beats Campo 13-8 on Senior Night!

Senior Night was glorious as the Lady Dons honored 15 seniors and their families; Kate Anderson, Blake Balfrey, Lauren Chase, Jackie Diede, Jessy Evaristo, Holly Fleischmann, Ellie Higgins, Sophie Loughran- Smith, Camilla Mendez-Otero, Alyssa Mueller, MacKenna Mullins, Caroline Newman, Amy Oum, Melanie Toth and Caith Wright. On the field the team played beautiful lacrosse with great passing, splendid clears and solid defense.

During the first half our Dons steadily built their lead, led by Caith Wright who was incredible and scored 4 goals, one of which was assisted by MacKenna Mullins. Sophie Ross had 1 goal and an assist, Caroline Newman had 1 goal, and Ellie Higgins had 1 goal. Defense was strong, holding Campo to only 3 goals in the first half and Sabba Jweainat had 3 important saves. Halftime score 7:3 Dons.

Campo was more productive in the second half and scored 2 goals within the first 4 minutes of play. But our Dons continued to hustle for the draw and held possession for most of the second half, keeping Campo at bay. Campo never got closer than 5 goals during the second half. Sam Repstad was outstanding with 4 saves in total and 2 fantastic stops on penalty shots. Kelcey Wendt scored 1 goal quickly assisted by Ellie Higgins. Sophie Ross shot a beauty for 1. Caith Wright scored 2, one on her own and one with a lovely assist by Ellie Higgins. And lastly, Caroline Newman scored 1 assisted Ellie Higgins. Caroline Newman also scored our final goal bringing the score to 13:8, Dons win.

On the draw Caith Wright had 3, Caroline Newman 1 and Camilla Mendez-Otero 1 and Sophie Ross was excellent netting a total of 8.

On defense our Seniors were wonderful. Wright had 2 loose balls, Newman 4, Alyssa Mueller was fabulous with 3, Kate Anderson had 2, Camilla Mendez-Otero had 1, and Blake Balfrey had 1. Holly Freischmann had a key interception as well. Juniors were great, too; Jessica Hennies had 1, Kelcey Wendt had 1, and Sophie Ross had 1 loose ball control.

For the goal; Sabba Jweainat had 3 total and Sam Repstad had 4 saves in the goal.

We await the game schedule for NCS. Acalanes is seeded #2 behind Piedmont. NCS play should begin next Wednesday, May 13th. Go Dons and congrats to the Boys who also completed an undefeated DFAL season!
