May 6 – Acalanes Girls Lacrosse Senior Night

In their last game of the regular season, on senior night, and with an enthusiastic home crowd, the Acalanes girls lacrosse team gave one of their strongest performances of the year but couldn’t hold onto the lead they had established over Miramonte, losing the game by just a goal.  Senior goalie and captain Samantha Repstad ended her last regular season in style with sixteen saves, using everything she had to stop the experienced Mats shooters — a foot, a trap on the ground, a catch, a deflection — her full toolkit was at work tonight for her fellow Dons.

Marie Whitmore and Julia Mueller led the offensive attack with three goals each.  Susie Bush and Sophie Ross added the two additional points for the Dons.  Jenna Kisner provided a lot of energy and ground ball controls for Acalanes.  Bush and Ross each contributed two draw controls.  The Dons offense was spread out across ten different shooters.  Seniors Katie Welch and Sabrina Elliott both came back from injuries to face their longtime league rival.  Senior Kelsey Wendt fed an assist, as did Whitmore.  Kelcey Higgins ably represented the senior class with stalwart defense, helping to hold the Mats to 2 goals in the first half.

NCS brackets should be released Saturday afternoon and the Dons look forward to having another shot at teams they have come close to beating in the regular season.  The first playoff game is anticipated for Wednesday night, time and location to be determined.
